Garrison Church Renewal Celebration
You’re warmly invited to The Garrison Church
(60 Lower Fort Street, Millers Point)
for our Renewal Celebration
on Sunday 22 March, from 2.30pmOver recent years, the Anglican Parish of Church Hill has undertaken a major Renewal Project at the Garrison. We would love you to join us as we celebrate its completion.
The project includes the renovation of the Garrison Halls, along with the creation of a new entry hall, new toilets, and a revitalised courtyard. It is the most significant renovation of the site since 1878. A truly momentous occasion!
On Sunday 22 March from 2.30pm, you’re invited to:
-
tour the new spaces
-
enjoy light refreshments with friends from the neighbourhood
-
meet members of our congregation
-
and speak with some of the team behind the design and construction
At 3.30pm, Justin Moffatt will lead a special rededication of the buildings, including a short address, prayer, and the ringing of the church bell.
This will flow into our 4.00pm church service.
All welcome.

Easter at Church Hill
Crown Him the Lord of Life
Crowns are meant to symbolise honour, strength and authority. But the crown placed upon Jesus’ head was woven from thorns, pressed down in mockery and offered not in reverence, but in ridicule.
To those watching, it appeared that his claim had come to nothing. His voice was silenced and his followers scattered, and he seemed to become just another victim of political power and public violence.
Yet the claim at the heart of Easter is that this was not the collapse of his kingship, but its unveiling. The cross did not expose weakness; it revealed a different kind of rule: one marked not by coercion, but by self-giving love.
Three days later, the one crowned with thorns rose from the grave. The risen Jesus is proclaimed as Lord of Life.
If that is true, then Easter is not merely a story about life after death. It is an invitation to see Jesus as he truly is, and to consider what it might mean to crown him in our own lives.
Join us this Easter at Church Hill Anglican.
